With the use of several overland connectors, the Little Sugar Creek Greenway stretches continuously for nearly 4 miles from Brandywine Road (near the Park Road Shopping Center) to 7th Avenue. These many segments create a fantastic corridor for walking, running, and biking. The greenway connects amenities at Freedom Park, including the Charlotte Nature Museum, ball fields, tennis courts, playgrounds, Atrium Health/ Levine Children's Hospital, and shopping and restaurants at the Metropolitan shopping area near uptown Charlotte. Past the Metropolitan shopping area, visitors can head north on Charlottetown Avenue and up Stonewall Street to access uptown Charlotte or continue East down the greenway to access the Central Piedmont Community College campus.
The Charlotte Nature Museum, one of the many amenities located along this segment of the Carolina Thread Trail, is a great place to visit for nature enthusiasts of all ages. The Nature Museum features a range of interesting exhibits including Insect Alley, the Creature Cavern, and the Paw Paw Nature Trail.
Charlotte's new bike share program offers four bike stations along the whole 6 mile stretch of Little Sugar Creek Greenway. Visit the Charlotte B-Cycle website for more information.
