Torrence Creek Greenway

A 2.5-mile paved greenway along Torrence Creek and its Tributary 2 constitute the Carolina Thread Trail section of Torrence Creek Greenway. It is rated as easy and has surfaces of asphalt, concrete, and boardwalk. An artfully lighted tunnel takes trail users under I-77, connecting the CATS park-and-ride on US 21 to Rosedale and other neighborhoods off Gilead Road.

Description

A 2.5-mile paved greenway along Torrence Creek and its Tributary 2 constitute the Carolina Thread Trail section of Torrence Creek Greenway. It is rated as easy and has surfaces of asphalt, concrete, and boardwalk. This is part of Mecklenburg County's greenway system, which includes another 0.5-mile segment along Torrence Creek, which is not on the Thread Trail route -- east of the tributary.

Torrence Creek Greenway winds through woods and behind neighborhoods off Gilead Road in Huntersville. It follows the tributary behind Rosedale and passes under I-77 in a artfully lighted tunnel, to connect to the CATS park-and-ride off US 21 in Huntersville. Trail visitors will experience a variety of scenery including views of the creek, a nearby meadow, and interesting rock formations along the way.
