Ride Safe
When biking, wear a helmet and use a bell to signal your approach to other trail users. Consider bringing a spare tube and pump so that you can fix a flat tire and offer help to other cyclists in need. When riding on roads, bike in the same direction as traffic.
Trailhead
Four Mile Creek Greenway is a joint project between the Town of Matthews and Mecklenburg County that is an extremely popular destination to area residents. It connects Matthews Elementary to Squirrel Lake Park to East John Street. A rock feature with bubbling water is irresistible to dogs and kids on the greenway. Squirrel Lake Park host a large playground area, fairy trails, a lake complete with a dock and ducks and restrooms. While the biking, hiking and animal loving community enjoys the greenway, wildlife such as beavers, white tailed deer and numerous bird species are also the beneficiaries of greenway.
