The Rocky River Blueway starts at Pharr Family Preserve in the Town of Midland and continues down for approximately 49 miles before meeting with the Pee Dee River for another 19 miles to the Bleweet Falls Lake Access in Lilesville, NC. This undammed blueway provides long distance flatwater kayaking and canoeing opportunities.

The South Fork Rail Trail is a 2.0-mile trail running along the South Fork of the Catawba River in the 324-acre Rhyne Preserve. The land surrounding the trail is protected by the Catawba Lands Conservancy and the natural surface and crushed gravel trail is perfect for light hike or mountain bike ride.
