McDowell Creek Greenway

Parking is available in the Birkdale Village Shopping Center off of Sam Furr Road. The trailhead is located on the right portion of the shopping center near the end of Cranlyn Road. A good place to park is near the bicycle access point at the end of Cranlyn Road within the shopping center.

Directions from I-77, take exit 25 and head west on Sam Furr Road. Turn right into Birkdale Village on Lindholm Drive. Keep to the right and loop around towards the back of the shopping center. The Greenway slopes down from the parking lot and then runs perpendicular away from Sam Furr Road.

The paved trail begins toward the edge of the Birkdale Village Shopping Center and continues 0.1 mile to Sam Furr Road to the right and near 1.5 miles to the left from this location. It passes a medium sized lake and has several benches which offer places to rest and view the lake. Not much of this trail is shaded, but the trail is relatively flat for much of its length.
