Irish Buffalo Creek Greenway

This 3.1-mile trail can be described as two segments: The first 0.4-mile natural-surface segment winds through a wooded area within Vietnam Veterans Park owned by Cabarrus County; additionally a 2.7-mile greenway, constructed by Kannapolis north of the park, provides a wide, paved facility with a number of loop opportunities utilizing Oakwood Avenue sidewalks.

Description

The 0.4-mile gravel surface portion of the trail lies within Vietnam Veterans Park. This 90-acre park is operated by Cabarrus County. The 10-ft wide, paved greenway north of the park borders the creek and provides a nice place to walk, run, bike, or rest on a bench. The multiple loop opportunities to provide a number of distance options. The paved segment is 2.7 miles in length with three bridge crossings over Irish Buffalo Creek and its tributaries. 

Other Information

Signs along the Vietnam Veterans' Park entrance road lead to the Trailhead parking lot. Park and trail rules are posted at each entrance. A future trailhead parking lot is planned on Rogers Lake Road at the north end of the trail. Hours are dawn to dusk.

Ride Safe
When biking, wear a helmet and use a bell to signal your approach to other trail users. Consider bringing a spare tube and pump so that you can fix a flat tire and offer help to other cyclists in need. When riding on roads, bike in the same direction as traffic.

There is now parking available at the Rogers Lake Rd trailhead. It is a paved lot with 14 parking spots (2 are handicapped spaces). The address is:
